In 1956, the first commercially successful videotape recorder Ampex VRX-1000 was introduced by Ampex. In 1963, the first home video recorder Telcan was produced by the Nottingham Electronic Valve Company but it had several limitations. The first successful VTR was of SonyCV-2000 model for home use and marketed in 1965. In September 1971, the Sony U-matic system was the world’s first commercial videocassette format introduced in Tokyo.
