For King Louis XV, the first handmade stapler was made in France in the eighteenth century. George McGill was awarded for the simple version of modern stapler in 1866. Henry R. Heyl in 1877 filed patent for the first machines to both insert and clinch a staple in one step. In 1941, the four way stapler was developed which is most common used today.
