Audio-division engineer, Nobutoshi Kihara built the Sony walkman in 1978. The device was built for Akio Morita who was the co-chairman of Sony. In the year 1979, the original walkman was marketed. The first all-digital walkman-the A 800 series of flash-based video was launched in March 2007.
