In 1783, Louis-Sebastien Lenormand invented the modern parachute in France. The word “Parachute” was coined in 1785 by French aeronauts, Francois Blanchard who was the fellow of Lenormand. The first parachute jump from an airplane was made in 1911 at Venice Beach in California by Grant Morton. The first actively used parachute was invented by Stefan Banic of Slovakia and in 1913 it was patented.
