When was the first wind vane invented?

The first wind vane was invented by a Greek astronomer, Andronicus in 48 B.C in Athens. It was placed on the top of the Tower of the Winds and its design looked like the Greek God Triton. It is also known as weather cock and is used for indicating the wind direction.
