On 23rd November 1926, a Norwegian chemical engineer Erik Rotheim invented the first aerosol spray can in Oslo in Norway.

The American inventor Lyle Goodhue and William Sullivan invented the modern spray can in the year 1941. They are used to dispense liquids of paints, deodorants and insecticides.
