When was the Body Mass Index invented?

Between the year 1830 and 1850 the Body Mass Index was invented by Belgian polymath Adolphe Quetelet when he was developing the course of social physics.

Body mass index is calculated by dividing the individual’s body weight by the square of his or her height. It determines the fat percentage present in the human body and indicates whether human being is obese, overweight, normal or underweight.
